Endoscopy
On Call Veterinary Services offers the large animal community a non-surgical diagnostic method for assessing various internal issues through the use of endoscopy. Endoscopy is a minimally invasive method of using high-tech fiber optics that allows Dr. Huddleston to visually inspect the esophagus, stomach, and upper intestines. This provides the opportunity for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon, and even upper intestinal tract disease. An endoscope can be used to identify areas of narrowing (stricture), ulcers, tumors, foreign bodies in the stomach, and in some cases, biopsies for further testing.
The endoscope itself consists of a long tube usually with a flexible tip that contains a small camera and is controlled by a knob on the handpiece that the veterinarian can control. If endoscopy is warranted, your pet will undergo anesthesia.
On Call Veterinary Services’ mobile unit delivers endoscopy diagnostics to owners of large animals in Central Texas including the areas of Dale, Lockhart, Smithville, Bastrop, Cedar Creek, and La Grange. If your animal has need of diagnostic services, please contact us at oncallvet@yahoo.com to schedule an appointment.
